Her Bones in Whispers is an album to lie on the floor to. It is not written for parties or other amusements. Neither is it a background soundtrack. It is a record for the single individual in a contemplative state.
“This is how we perceive the sound of the early 2020s” states the collective’s artistic mastermind Stefan Hackländer. With balanced instrumentation, meandering from pure electronica to guitar, bass and drums – and anything in between – with pure instrumentals and songs with varying vocal contributors Ordeal & Plight transform feelings of sadness, anxiety and heartbreak into audio. Nevertheless musical influences can be heard. Stefan Hackländer describes it as “something somewhere between Angst Skvadron, Klaus Schulze and Portishead. A merging of diverse influences that create this musical vortex which we call Ordeal & Plight.”

Ulver l'a bien dit par le passé : "The wolves evolve", et ce vers pourrait servir de proverbe tant il est une règle dans ce groupe. Écouter Ulver, c'est apprendre à désapprendre. The Assassination of Julius Caesar est une opportunité pour le combo norvégien d'évoluer vers la synthpop : le pari est évidemment réussi haut la main. Toutes les chansons sont prenantes et gardent une cellule hypnotique et avant-gardiste ("Rolling Stone", "Coming Home"). Un album exceptionnel de plus : Ulver, c'est ça.

I've spent the day looking for some decent goth rock that speaks to me. Nothing was satisfying until I found this. Everything is right here: the atmosphere, the songwriting, the melodies, the voice, the whole concept. And what a surprise to hear a familiar voice and find out it's indeed Kvohst from <code> and Grave Pleasures. Although I think the album doesn't need his guest appearance - it's convincing enough on its own and I would have even preferred it without his vocals. Great band.
